Looking to start a business in Ellicott City? First, you need a business plan; then you need a space.

Maryland is making the latter a bit easier with the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development's new Maryland Business Properties database, a map of available commercial properties in the state.

The database allows those in the market to search for buildings or properties by size and location, and to overlay other criteria such as median age, household income and education attained by the nearby population.

In Ellicott City, two properties are listed; 6031 and 6011 University Blvd.
