Man Who Assaulted Woman Fatally Hit By Vehicle While Running From Laurel Home: Police

A man who Howard County Police say assaulted a woman in his Laurel home fled the scene and was fatally hit by a vehicle.

LAUREL, MD — A woman and a man involved in a domestic incident have both died, according to police.

Sunday around 7 p.m., Howard County police officers were called to the 11200 block of Chaucers Ridge Court for a domestic assault involving two adults. They found a woman who was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Howard County Police.

Minutes later, police were called to northbound Route 29 in the area of Old Columbia Road for a single-vehicle collision involving a pedestrian. They found a man in the road who was pronounced dead at the scene. The involved driver was uninjured and remained at the scene, the police department stated.

Investigators believe the man who was fatally hit by a vehicle first assaulted the woman at his residence before running into the travel lanes of Route 29 on foot and was hit by a vehicle, the police department stated.

The investigation is ongoing and additional information will be released when it becomes available.
