Man Killed After Driving Wrong Way Down I-70 Near Ellicott City
A man driving a Jaguar was killed Monday morning, Oct. 21, when he drove the wrong way down I-70 near Ellicott City and hit a semi head-on.
ELLICOTT CITY, MD — A three-car accident happened early Monday morning after a man drove his 2003 Jaguar down I-70 the wrong way. The driver of the Jaguar died at the scene at approximately 2:30 a.m. Oct. 21. The accident occurred in the area of MD Rt. 40 near mile marker 82.
The driver of the Jaguar crashed head-on into a 2019 International truck-tractor driven by 31-year-old Ali Bashir of Columbus, Ohio. Bashir was taken to Howard County General Hospital by ambulance. A second crash happened shortly thereafter involving Edward Baumgardner, 69, of Thurmont, Md., who was driving a 2017 Mack truck-tractor. He also was taken to Howard County General Hospital by ambulance.
The identity of the driver in the Jaguar is pending, the Maryland State Police noted.
