Incest, Rape Of 2 Family Members 'Went On For Years:' Howard Co. Prosecutor

A 38-year-old man has been sentenced in another case involving the rape and incest of a second family member, according to prosecutors.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — A 38-year-old man has been sentenced for sexually abusing and raping a second family member.

Deron Dave Barnett of Elkridge previously was sentenced to 140 years, with all but 60 years suspended, in an earlier, separate case for sexually abusing a family member. He was convicted of two counts of sex abuse of a minor, three counts of rape and three counts of incest in May 2023 for that case, according to court documents.

In November 2022, Howard County Police and social workers were called to the 6200 block of Washington Boulevard in Elkridge on a report that Barnett had sexually abused a family member. That case resulted in the second prosecution of Barnett on abuse charges after a second family member came forward about being abused.
