āPeople here are spoiled,ā she said Friday morning. āPeople already have so much sushi, and Iām going to be the only one to make it,ā so sheāll only have a small selection of sushi.
Watanabe-Smith will be the only employee for now, though she hopes to be able to hire help after the business gets off the ground. The Ellicott City resident is a former accountant who settled here 20 years ago after living in Arlington.
There were Japanese stores in that area, but āthatās quite a long way to go,ā she said.
She hopes to be able to open the shop before the summerās end, but is still waiting on permits from the county.Ā
