Mathemagician Dr. Benjamin to Perform at Glenelg Country School

Dr. Benjamin performs mental calculations at lightning speeds, demonstrating the fun and fascinating aspects of math!

Glenelg Country School (GCS), a leading independent college preparatory school for age two through grade twelve, kicks off its second Dragon Dialogues speaker series with mathemagician, Dr. Arthur Benjamin. In his show, Mathemagics—The Art of Mental Calculation, Dr. Benjamin will entertain with faster-than-a-calculator mental addition, multiplication, and other amazing feats of the mind. The April 10th event is free to the public and begins at 7:00 p.m. at the GCS Mulitz Theater. Dragon Dialogues foster communication between parents, faculty, and students on matters that directly affect the education, health, and emotional well-being of students. Dr. Benjamin’s demonstration will feature the thought-provoking and exciting aspects of mathematics, promoting the importance of studying this subject.

A Smallwood Family Professor of Mathematics at Harvey Mudd College, Dr. Benjamin is a professional magician and mathematician. For the last thirty years, he has presented his mixture of math and magic all over the world to thousands of groups. He is also the winner of the national teaching award from the Mathematical Association of America, and was listed by Princeton Review as one of America's Top 300 Professors. Dr. Benjamin has appeared on the Today Show, CNN, and The Colbert Report and he has been profiled in The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, USA Today, Scientific American, and People Magazine, among others.
