MD 108 Lane Shift Planned For Wednesday In Howard County

The Maryland Department of Transportation is planning a lane shift Jan. 11 to accommodate an intersection improvement project.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Travel lanes on MD 108 (Clarksville Pike) will be shifted at Centennial Lane/Beaverbrook Road to the northern side of the roadway on Jan. 11 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting.

The traffic shift being implemented by the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration is part of the intersection improvement project on MD 108 in Columbia. All lanes will remain open during the operation, as well as one left-turn lane available in each direction. The traffic shift is necessary to allow crews to safely construct a median on MD 108, according to the MDOT. Crews also will also install curb on the southern side of the roadway east of Beaverbrook Road to improve drainage.

The project will widen and add turn lanes on MD 108 and Centennial Lane to reduce congestion and enhance safety. Work on this project began in the summer 2021 and is expected to be complete this spring.
