Meditation Studio Opens in Historic Ellicott City
Guided sessions, workshops, and meditation in the workplace
PURE Meditation Studio opens today in the Ellicott City Wellness Center in historic Ellicott City.
PURE Meditation Studio is based upon the belief that meditation should be simple and straightforward and, thus, offers a variety of classes for practitioners of all levels.
The core weekly classes are secular and based on mindfulness meditation. They include 30-minute and 45-minute guided meditation sessions and “Introduction to Meditation.” The studio will offer monthly meditation-based workshops as well as a class, PURE Giving, where participants pay what they can afford and 100% will be given to a local charity. A corporate program, PURE @ work, will bring meditation to the workplace .

The studio is owned and operated by Nicole De Chirico and Tamara Van Newkirk. Both are clinical social workers with roots in Howard County, particularly in the areas of mental health and crisis intervention. The studio also includes a group of teachers experienced in meditation, mindfulness and wellness practices.
Interest in meditation and other mindfulness practices has grown over the last few years as individuals discover the benefits of regular meditation. Some research suggests that a regular meditation practice can alter brains in positive ways. Meditation can help practitioners feel more relaxed, more balanced, less reactive and better able to stay present and relate to difficult experiences without being overwhelmed. There is no charge for an attendee’s first class. For more information visit, www.puremeditationstudio.com.
