Mentorship Program To Be Offered To Homewood Center Students Via Columbia Community Care
Columbia Community Care, a nonprofit in Howard County, has partnered with the Homewood Center to offer a group mentorship program for teens.
HOWARD COUNTY, MD — The Homewood Center in Ellicott City has partnered with Columbia Community Care to help prepare students for future careers and life.
Under the terms of the partnership, CCC will provide a group mentorship program for students focused on life skills, such as self-advocacy and decision making. CCC also will support Homewood’s Beyond the 21 program by recruiting speakers for the career speaker series and local businesses to host student field trips.
The Homewood Center includes two programs, Bridges and Gateway, each designed to meet the specific needs of individual students in grades 6th through 12th, that focus on restorative practices and social-emotional learning.

Columbia Community Care, a nonprofit founded in the early days of the coronavirus pandemic to assist with collecting and distributing needed food and personal items in Howard County, now functions as a community center with arts, sports, community gardens, supplemental education, library, youth programs, community activities, food pantry and a kitchen, a clothing closet, classrooms and a peace room.
The HCPSS Partnerships Office has united schools with more than 1,000 businesses and community organizations to enhance the educational experience of Howard County students.
