Ellicott City Motorcyclist Seriously Injured In Crash: Police
Meadowridge Road was closed near Old Stockbridge Road for two hours after the crash, police said.

ELLICOTT CITY, MD — A crash involving a motorcycle seriously injured an Ellicott City man and closed Meadowridge Road road for two hours Sunday morning, police said.
Eugene Alfred Shields, 46, of Ellicott City, was flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center after the crash, which officials said occurred at approximately 10 a.m.
Shields had been headed north on his 2007 Harley-Davidson motorcycle in the 6100 block of Meadowridge Road when a 2011 Chevy Silverado turned left in front of him, police reported.

To try to prevent the collision, Shields laid his motorcycle down, according to officials, who said he still sustained serious injuries.
The driver of the truck — Loren Douglas McDaniel, 62, of Baltimore — was uninjured and remained at the scene, police said.

Meadowridge Road was closed between Old Stockbridge Road and Route 100 until approximately noon, according to the Howard County Police Department.
