Motorcyclist in Critical Condition from Triadelphia Road Crash: Police

The 20-year-old driver was speeding before hitting an SUV, according to the Howard County Police Department.

A motorcyclist was hospitalized Saturday after a crash in western Howard County, police said.

Patrick James Moynihan, 20, of Elkridge, was in critical condition at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center from a collision on Triadelphia Road Saturday afternoon, the Howard County Police Department reported Saturday night.

Police said Moyniham was driving his 2008 Honda CBR 600RR west on Triadelphia Road at Walt Ann Drive at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Saturday when he hit a Ford Escape.

The driver of the Escape, a 42-year-old West Friendship woman, was not injured, according to police.

Preliminary investigation that included accounts from witnesses indicated the motorcyclist was speeding and crossed the double-yellow line to pass another vehicle on Triadelphia Road before the crash, police said.

Triadelphia Road was closed between Hunt Ridge and Walt Ann Drive for approximately two-and-a-half hours as police investigated, according to the report.
