National Merit Scholarships Awarded To Howard County Students
Half a dozen Howard County high schoolers have received a National Merit Scholarship from a university in this latest round of funding.
HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Several Howard County students have been awarded a National Merit Scholarship in the third batch of National Merit scholarships to be given in 2021. NMSC named recipients of corporate-sponsored awards April 21 and winners of National Merit $2,500 Scholarships May 12. Additional recipients of college-sponsored awards will be announced on July 12.
- Bryce K. Hu of Clarksville, River Hill High School, plans to study economics, received a scholarship from the University of Maryland
- Jaikrishna Raghavan of Columbia, Altholton High School, plans to study chemical engineering, received a scholarship from the University of Maryland
- Tomas Y. Germanas of Ellicott City, Centennial High School, plans to study chemistry, received a scholarship from the University of Chicago
- Nathan R. Goturi of Ellicott City, River Hill High School, plans to study medicine, received a scholarship from Boston University
- Isha R. Raje of Ellicott City, Mount Hebron High School, plans to study molecular biology, received a scholarship from the University of Maryland
- Eric Zhu of Ellicott City, Centennial High School, plans to study computer science, received a scholarship from the University of Maryland
By the end of this year’s competition, approximately 7,500 academic champions will have won National Merit Scholarships worth approximately $30 million.
