Natural Hazards Plan To Be Discussed During Upcoming In-Person, Virtual Public Meetings
The county's natural hazard mitigation plan and flood mitigation plan will be discussed during two meetings that residents can attend.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Residents can attend upcoming public meetings to learn more about Howard County's Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan and Flood Mitigation Plan, which defines leaders' goals and actions that can be taken to help mitigate the affects of hazards including flooding. The county is required to update these plans every five years.
The first meeting will take place in person March 22 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Frances Hackley Multipurpose Room at the Harriet Tubman Cultural Center in Columbia.

The county has rolled out numerous projects to help curb natural hazards, particularly flooding in Ellicott City, such as opening a flood mitigation pond and constructing a 5,000-foot-long tunnel.
