Mary's Land Farm will unveil the new ground mount array projected to offset all of the energy needs of the farm on Friday, Sept. 27.
ELLICOTT CITY, MD — Mary's Land Farm will unveil the new ground mount array projected to offset all of the energy needs of the farm on Friday, Sept. 27 at 11:30 a.m. The farm is located at 4979 Sheppard Lane in Ellicott City.
Howard County Executive Calvin Ball will be present at the opening ceremony to celebrate the installation done by Aurora Energy Inc. The farm is owned by Tom and Rosy Cunningham.
“We know that our state is already seeing the effects of a rapidly changing climate, posing a threat to the health, security, and prosperity of our communities. From these threats, there is also a unique opportunity to support a green economy in Howard County. I am excited to cut the ribbon on the new Aurora Energy solar array at Mary’s Land Farm and support our farms and our environment,” said Howard County Executive Calvin Ball in a statement. “I believe it will take a unified community effort to lead by example in the fight against climate change. That is why, by 2024, Howard County government will receive 20 percent of its power from renewable sources, especially solar power. By the year 2050, we will reduce our greenhouse gas emissions to zero. From our farms to our government and beyond, renewable energy will help us save money, create jobs, and protect our future.”
