Painting in Plein Air, Paint It!

If you’ve always wanted to join the painters dotted around Old Ellicott City, but were worried you didn’t have the skills, don’t be. The Howard County Arts Council wants to teach you.

A three-day plein air workshop is scheduled for July 6 – 8 in tandem with Paint it! Ellicott City, a juried, outdoor painting event.

Workshops will run in the morning, from 9 a.m. – noon, after which students can put their skills to the test, joining the dozens of artists who line the streets every year to capture the charm of Old Ellicott City on canvass. 

The juried artwork will be exhibited in Gallery 1 from July – August 17, all other paintings will be on display at in the lobby of the during the opening reception, July 9 from 6 – 9 p.m. They will then be moved to the , to be displayed through the end of July.

During the reception, awards will also be presented for the juried paintings.
