Parking Lot D To Reopen In Ellicott City
The parking lot in the area where one person was swept up in the flood waters will reopen for public use, Howard County officials say.

ELLICOTT CITY, MD — Parking lot "D" will reopen to the public for the first time since the deadly May 27 flood in Ellicott City. The lot will be available to the public starting on Sunday, June 17, according to Howard County government officials.
Main Street will remain closed, with restricted access to those who have credentials.
There will not be any access to Main Street whatsoever from Lot D, officials advised.

The parking lot, which is located off Old Columbia Pike, has been closed since a National Guardsman was swept up in the flood waters on May 27. The body of Staff Sgt. Eddison Hermond, 39, was found two days later.
Old Ellicott City has been in a state of recovery from flooded buildings and infrastructure in the weeks since the flood.

Lot D will be open to employees or patrons of businesses outside the restricted areas, offering 150 parking spaces for public use, when it opens on Sunday.
The parking lot will only be accessible from Roussey Lane via Old Columbia Pike.
As public works officials continue recovery and repair work in the Main Street district, Hamilton Street will remain closed to traffic.
