Pedestrian Crossing Project Underway Near Waterford, Whitworth
Signs and flagging operations will be in place to direct traffic as lane shifts along Old Annapolis Road in Ellicott City can be expected.
ELLICOTT CITY, MD — Construction on a safe pedestrian crossing near Burleigh Manor Middle School and Centennial High School will be taking place this week. Americans with Disabilities Act compliant sidewalk ramps and a crosswalk will be installed on Old Annapolis Road just east of Waterford Drive and Whitworth Way. A pedestrian refuge island also will be added to the middle of the existing roadway. Weather permitting, the project should be completed within five workdays.
Signs and flagging operations will be in place to direct traffic as needed as lane shifts along Old Annapolis Road can be expected during construction hours, Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. A 75-foot portion of sidewalk adjacent to 10089 Whitworth Way will be closed to pedestrians for the duration of the project.
