A local financial education organization has received $10,000 from PNC Bank to support free tax preparation and community education events.
PNC Bank has donated $10,000 to MakingChange, a Howard County nonprofit that develops and delivers financial education programs.
The funding will be used to support free tax preparation for income-qualified individuals and families, offered through the Internal Revenue Service’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. MakingChange manages VITA operations, including recruitment of volunteers.
In addition, PNC’s contribution will support the Money Matters Fair & Youth Finance event hosted by MakingChange as part of its community education efforts. The event, slated for March 14, 2015, will include workshops, financial planning sessions, tax preparation and a “credit café” where participants can obtain a credit report.
