Police Department Academy Class 43 Raises $10,000 for Grassroots

The Howard County Police Department Academy Class 43 has raised over $10,000 to combat opioid dependence and to support Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center’s New Beginnings Stabilization Program. The recruits utilized a variety of fundraising techniques to gather funds, including hosting No Time to Spare, a bowling fundraiser.

Grassroots, a long-time partner with the Howard County Police Department, has been charged with providing a 24/7 walk-in crisis stabilization program for individuals requesting services for substance use, with an emphasis on people with opioids issues. Planning is underway for the New Beginnings Stabilization Program to include assessment, counseling and peer support, supervised opioid detox, and connections to treatment.

The entrance to the New Beginning Stabilization Program will include a plaque recognizing the Howard County Police Department Academy Class 43 for its contribution.
