Power Outage Closes Homewood Center Tuesday

The Central Office for Howard County Pubic School System was also without power.

The Homewood Center in Ellicott City will close at 1:10 p.m., Howard County Public School System officials reported Tuesday morning. A power outage prompted the closure. In addition to daytime activity, evening classes were cancelled at the Homewood Center.

The nearby Central Office was also without power, school officials said. Central Office lost power on Monday but communications staff worked through the “cold and dark” to keep families and personnel up to date.

BGE reported that equipment was damaged in the area of Clarksville Pike/Route 108 where the Homewood Center and Central Office were located, and a repair crew was on site Tuesday morning. There was no estimated restoration time available.
