The Redistricting Process Needed Before HCPSS Opens Its 13th High School Starts Soon

A series of workshops open to the public will gather input about new school boundaries for HCPSS 13th high school to open in 2023.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — School boundaries will be reexamined by Howard County Public School System staff in order to establish an attendance area for the new high school to be built near Mission Road and Washington Boulevard in Jessup, which falls within the current Hammond High School attendance area. As the 13th high school for the district, the building is slated to open for the 2023-2024 school year with room for 1,680 students.

According to the school district, the communities located in the southeastern part of Howard County are most likely to be impacted by the redistricting process. Any changes would take effect starting with the 2023-2024 school year.

  • Wednesday, March 9, 7-8:30 p.m., Oakland Mills High School, 9410 Kilimanjaro Road, Columbia
  • Monday, March 14, 7-8:30 p.m., Hammond High School, 8800 Guilford Road, Columbia
