Road Closure Diverts Drivers As Crews Remove Troublesome Tree

A road in Howard County will be shut down while BGE crews remove a tree that's making contact with overhead powerlines.

ELLICOTT CITY, MD — A tree has been flagged for making contact with overhead electrical lines and will be removed soon, requiring a temporary road closure.

BGE crews will be closing New Cut Road in both directions between Hillsborough Road and College Avenue on April 15 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. The tree is located at 4013 New Cut Road.

Detour signs and variable message boards will be in place to guide drivers during construction.

Northbound traffic will be directed to Hillsborough Road eastbound, then Village Crest Drive northbound and College Avenue northbound, reconnecting with New Cut Road at St. Paul Street.

Southbound traffic will be directed to College Avenue southbound, Village Crest southbound, and Hillsborough Road westbound, reconnecting with New Cut Road.
