Scholarships Awarded To 25 Howard County High Schoolers Hoping To Attend College

Twenty-five students from 11 Howard County public high schools have received scholarships from the Community Foundation of Howard County.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — The Community Foundation of Howard County, which raises, manages and distributes funds to support Howard County nonprofits, has awarded 25 scholarships to Howard County students. The scholarships support 25 students from 11 public high schools seeking postsecondary education.

“The 2023 scholarships were awarded to exceptional individuals who demonstrated outstanding academic achievements, leadership qualities, excellence in extracurricular activities and a strong commitment to community service,” said Dee Athey, director of grants and community engagements for the Community Foundation of Howard County. “These awards are especially meaningful given the challenges and the sacrifices the graduating seniors have made. We are proud of each recipient’s accomplishments and are confident in their ability to positively contribute to society in the future.”

  • Saachi Aggarwal of Marriotts Ridge High School received the Mark Hollingsworth Scholarship
  • Ethan Aidam of Oakland Mills High School received the Tropf Family Scholarship
  • Albert Asher of River Hill High School received the Schnorf Family Special Olympics Volunteer Scholarship
  • Gavin Caponera of Mount Hebron High School received the Karen and Howard Carolan Scholarship
  • Tareq Dheini of Howard High School received the Christina and Lawrence Tarbell III Scholarship
  • Hannah Di Danato of Mount Hebron High School received the Kit Sfekas Memorial Scholarship
  • Sofia Douglass of Howard High School received The Amanda Post “AmandaWins” Soccer Association of Columbia/Howard County Student-Athlete Scholarship
  • Rebecca Fairbanks of Oakland Mills High School received the Karen S. Wray Nursing with Compassion and Dignity Scholarship
  • Serena Goyal of River Hill High School received the Aaron Worley Scholarship and Freeman K. Hill Teen Scholarship
  • Sakina Ibrahim of Centennial High School received the Dorothy Iglehart Pumphrey Memorial Scholarship
  • Agamnelechim Igwe of River Hill High School received the Nikole Hannah-Jones Scholarship
  • Emily Kinnear of Marriotts Ridge High School received the John C. Clegg Scholarship
  • Owen Lewis of Howard High School received the Allan Homes Outstanding Student Volunteer Scholarship
  • Leah Liu of Marriotts Ridge High School received the Doug Parker Scholarship
  • Justin Ma of Glenelg High School received the Robert J. Gaw Memorial Scholarship
  • Xavier Manigault of Reservoir High School received the Bob Kittleman Scholarship
  • Ian McWright of Mount Hebron High School received the Jon Grove Memorial Scholarship
  • Stephanie Okoma of Oakland Mills High School received the Wilbon H. and Mary J. Pulliam Scholarship
  • Priyanshi Patel of River Hill High School received the Phyllis Utterback Scholarship
  • Mioulca Saintilma of Wilde Lake High School received the Michael Joseph Deets Scholarship
  • Lindsey Sands of Wilde Lake High School received the Tropf Family Scholarship
