Section Of Old Columbia Pike To Close For Water Main Replacement
Old Columbia Pike from Tollhouse Road to Main Street in Ellicott City will be closed to all-through traffic starting July 10.

ELLICOTT CITY, MD — A stretch of Old Columbia Pike from Tollhouse Road to Main Street in Ellicott City will be closed to all-through traffic starting about 9 a.m. on July 10 as part of an ongoing water main placement project along Old Columbia Pike.
Weather permitting, this section of Old Columbia Pike is expected to reopen about Aug 7.
Only local traffic and emergency vehicles will be permitted into the area during this time. Message boards and signs will be posted to alert residents and drivrs of the construction and corresponding road closure and detour.

Drivers should follow a clearly marked detour using Old Columbia Pike, Main Street, Frederick Road and Tollhouse Road. A recorded message at 410-313-4400 will carry details and updates.
While the county and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, drivers are reminded to stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers, a city news release said.

Authorities urge drivers to slow down and don’t follow too closely when traveling through a work zone.
Weather permitting, the water main replacement project is expected to be completed by late August 2024.
