Shoppers Food & Pharmacy May Open This Weekend

Officials at the Shoppers Food & Pharmacy that the new grocery store at the former site of Superfresh would be opening July 17.

The pharmacy at Shoppers is open for business now, however, as remodeling and renovations are under way in the supermarket. An employee on-site said the grocery store might open as early as Sat., July 16, if all goes well.

Superfresh is a unit of the regional Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co., which filed for bankruptcy in late 2010. Since then, A&P has has been closing and selling Superfresh stores in Maryland, Delaware and Washington, D.C.

Shoppers' purchase of Superfresh was completed on Tues., June 21.
