Shoppers Food & Pharmacy to Open Saturday

Shoppers Food & Pharmacy will be opening Sat., July 16 at 6 a.m., according to Steve Sylven, spokesman for Supervalu Inc., the grocery store's Minneapolis-based parent-company. 

Officials at the Shoppers Food & Pharmacy  that the new grocery store would be opening July 17.

The pharmacy at Shoppers has been open for business as remodeling and renovations took place at the site of the former Superfresh supermarket. 

Superfresh is a unit of the regional Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co., which filed for bankruptcy in late 2010. Since then, A&P has has been closing and selling Superfresh stores in Maryland, Delaware and Washington, D.C.

Shoppers' purchase of Superfresh was completed on Tues., June 21.
