Silver Star Award Bestowed Upon 102-Year-Old WWII Veteran From Howard County
A 102-year-old WWII veteran from Howard County received the Silver Star Thursday night during a special celebration for gallantry in action.
HOWARD COUNTY, MD — A 102-year-old World War II veteran from Ellicott City received the Silver Star Thursday night during a special celebration held at the VFW Post 7472.
Retired United States Marine Corps Colonel Lou Schott was honored for his "gallantry in action against the enemy forces on June 20th, 1945, during the battle of Okinawa," reported WBFF.
The Silver Star is the third highest military honor after the Medal of Honor and the Service Cross. It is awarded for gallantry in action:
