Speeders, Sex Offenders Targeted By HoCo Police Halloween Weekend
Howard Co. Police said they will be conducting speed enforcement patrols, and have checked on registered sex offenders ahead of Halloween.
HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Howard County Police said they will be conducting speed enforcement patrols this weekend, and have checked on registered sex offenders ahead of Halloween to make sure they are in compliance.
Police said all 118 registered sex offenders in the county are accounted for; one was in violation and "will be charged accordingly." Parents who wish to check the Maryland sex offender registry can click here to search by address.
Officers "will conduct speed enforcement activitiesand be on the lookout for drunk or impaired drivers," the HCPD said in a news release.

Police also said officers "will be alert for vandalism, theft and destruction of property" this weekend.

- Remind trick-or-treaters never to go inside a stranger's home or car
- Inspect candy before children eat it, and do not eat candy that has been open
- Encourage trick-or-treaters to walk around with a group, and make sure an adult chaperone is with them after dark
- Drive slowly all evening and be extra cautious
