St. John's Jewelers, Ellicott City's oldest jewelry store, is celebrating its 40th anniversary this October. Established in 1973, St. John's Jewelers was opened by expert watchmaker, Irwin Farber, and his wife Charlotte. Farber started in Historic Ellicott City as a master watchmaker and then went on to open his own location in St. John's Plaza. After a successful 20 years in business, Farber moved the store into its own location across Route 40 to the MacAlpine Center. St. John's Jewelers is now being run by Farber's daughter, Linda Miller. To commemorate their 40th anniversary, St. John's Jewelers invites the community to help celebrate at a special reception on October 5, 2013, 12:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. See www.stjohnsjewelers.com for more information.
