Stream Erosion Prevention Project Will Begin Tuesday In Howard County

Work on a stream erosion prevention project in Howard County will begin Tuesday, officials say. Traffic should not be impacted.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Crews will start survey work Tuesday to reduce stream erosion and damage to an open space area and private property west of Ashbrook Drive in Ellicott City. Construction work on the project will begin Nov. 1.

Through the installation of rock and wood/log structures, the project is designed to improve the water quality and stability of the stream channel and storm drain outfall to the Patapsco River tributary. Weather permitting, the project should be completed by late February 2023.

While the project is not expected to impact traffic flow, signs will be posted near the project area to advise drivers and others of the construction. The project is partially funded through the County’s Watershed Protection and Restoration Fund.
