For Tenth Year Running, Vantage Point Walks to End Alzheimer's

Annual Fundraising Event set for Saturday, Sept. 28, at Centennial Park

Residences at Vantage Point, a continuing care retirement community in Downtown Columbia, is looking for both volunteers to join their Walk to End Alzheimer’s team and donors to support the walkers. The annual walk is slated for Saturday, Sept. 28, with registration at 9 a.m. at Centennial Park. The 2.5-mile walk begins at 10:00 a.m., after a brief ceremony.

The Vantage Point team is made up of residents, employees, friends and family members who join with other community members to raise funds to further the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association. The Alzheimer's Association is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization. All donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law.

This year’s Vantage Point team hopes to recruit 100 walkers and raise $7,000 to help in the fight against Alzheimer’s. So far the team has raised $5,094.00 towards the goal. “We’ve accepted donations, held two successful car washes and employees can participate in “Casual for a Cause” Friday’s, where they can “dress down” for a donation to the Walk” says Vivian Smith, Vantage Point team organizer and Fitness Coordinator. As a member of the Walk Committee, Ms. Smith will be kicking off the walk by leading a warm-up exercise for participants.
