Transportation Open House Set For March

Residents can learn about transportation options, modes, agencies and upcoming projects in Howard County.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Residents can learn more about the county's planning, design, operations and maintenance of its transportation systems at a transportation open house planned for March 3.

The open house also will provide attendees with information about various transportation options, modes, agencies and upcoming projects within Howard County. Executive Calvin Ball said that the county has invested record funding into multimodal transportation projects and public transportation over the last seven years.

"I invite you to join our county staff and local partners to learn more about projects on the horizon and lend your voice to creating a network of diverse transportation options for our community," Ball said.

Representatives from multiple agencies will be present, including the county’s police department, departments of public works and recreation and parks, the Howard County Public School System and the Maryland Department of Transportation.

This year's event combines the former Active Transportation and Transportation Priorities Open Houses. It will feature new topics such as transportation safety, transit, regional planning, roadway maintenance and operations. Attendees also can offer comments on overall transportation priorities and approaches to challenges.

The open house will run from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Howard County Library System’s Miller Branch in Ellicott City.
