Tree Lighting, 44th Annual Midnight Madness Kicks Off Friday In Old Ellicott City

A tree lighting, visit with Santa, live music and shopping specials kick off the holiday season in Old Ellicott City.

ELLICOTT CITY, MD — The official tree lighting and start of the 44th Annual Midnight Madness event in Old Ellicott City will be Friday at 5:30 p.m.

Located on Main Street at B&O Museum Plaza, the tree lighting will be accompanied by caroling with the Mount Hebron High School Chamber Choir, appearances by local and state dignitaries, and special guests Santa, his elf and the Grinch.

The music continues at B&O with the Catonsville High School Steel band following the tree lighting. Long Reach High School Madrigals and the Heart of Maryland A Capella Chorus join Mount Hebron as the strolling playlist continues throughout the evening up and down Main Street.

More live music by local favorites, Work In Progress, goes from 7 p.m. to midnight at the Wine Bin. There’s a wine, beer and cocktail garden there and a heated tent full of local artisans and more great holiday gifts.
