Two New Exhibits at Howard County Arts Council
Youth Art Month and No Boundaries exhibits bill be featured in the Arts Council galleries from March 10 to April 21.

March is Youth Art Month and the Howard County Arts Council will once again mark the occasion with its annual spring exhibit of student artwork in Gallery I at the Howard County Center for the Arts. Presented through an ongoing partnership between Howard County Public School System and Howard County Arts Council (HCAC), this year’s Youth Art Month exhibit is titled Imagining Home: Creating Community and features hundreds of works by HCPSS students in grades K-12, selected from public school art classes throughout the county. Inspired by the title theme, students created artwork using a variety of media and styles.
In Gallery II, in partnership with Howard County Recreation and Parks’ Department of Therapeutic Recreation and Inclusion Services, the exhibit No Boundaries showcases work by youth and adult artists with developmental disabilities. Often vibrant and playful, the work was created in the Exploring Art and Focus on Art programs offered by the Department of Therapeutic Recreation and Inclusion Services. In these programs, youth and adults with developmental disabilities have the opportunity to explore a variety of media, styles, and methods of creating art.
Both exhibits will be open from March 10 to April 21, 2017. A free public reception including light refreshments will be held on Friday, March 31 from 5-7 pm. The evening will also feature a Summer Arts Camp Preview, with sample activities led by teachers from HCAC’s Visual and Performing Arts Summer Camps as well as a display of projects from previous camps. Staff will also be on site to answer questions and accept summer camp registrations. HCAC Summer Camps run June through August and offer visual and performing arts classes for students entering grades K-7.
