Verdict Reached In Howard County Motel Shooting: Prosecution
A verdict has been reached in the shooting of a man at a Jessup motel, according to the Howard County State's Attorney's Office.
JESSUP, MD — A 33-year-old man has been found guilty for the shooting of another man at the Cedar Motel June 2, 2023.
Howard County Police were called to the hotel located in the 8000 block of Washington Boulevard in Jessup for a report of a man who had been shot. Demitri Anwar Duhart was identified as the suspect. He had left the hotel and headed to his apartment where he changed clothes, cut off his dreadlocks and shaved his facial hair in an attempt to disguise himself, Howard County Police reported.
Duhart was taken into custody several days later in another jurisdiction. The victim was taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center and later released. Duhart was charged with second-degree murder, first-degree assault, use of handgun in the crime of violence and possession of a firearm with a disqualifying crime, according to the Howard County State's Attorney's Office. Duhart will be sentenced July 12.
