Howard County Veteran Saves Clients' Precious Time With Her Business 'The Laundry Basket'
Howard County Army veteran Hyacinth Tucker's business The Laundry Basket helps her clients save time and energy.
HOWARD COUNTY, MD — With younger kids home from school on break, college kids back home for the holidays and guests staying over to celebrate, the laundry can pile up. One Howard County resident and veteran runs a business that helps alleviate that work load for busy people.
Hyacinth Tucker served in the United States Army for eight years. She was stationed at Walter Reid and Fort G. Meade where she honed her skills in discipline and organization, she told Patch, which led to her starting an on-demand subscription-based mobile laundry and dry cleaning delivery solution servicing the Greater D.C., Maryland and northern Virginia area.
"The Laundry Basket offers a comprehensive range of services, including next-day wash and fold laundry, dry cleaning, alterations, pressing and even closet organization. We're a one-stop solution to simplify and enhance the laundry experience," Tucker told Patch.

Clients of The Laundry Basket range from busy business professionals to parents, seniors who need a little assistance and anyone needing the convenience of what The Laundry Basket offers.
"Our clients want more time for what matters most in their lives," Tucker told Patch. "The realization of how overwhelming and stressful laundry can be, especially for busy individuals, sparked the idea of The Laundry Basket. I wanted to offer a solution that not only lightens the physical load but also brings peace of mind."

Tucker offers both pick-up and delivery options right at a client's home. Dirty laundry will be collected and freshly laundered, neatly folded laundry will be returned to the home.
"We take care of the entire laundry process. We have a dedicated team that ensures each garment is treated with care. We utilize our advanced equipment and eco-friendly products for the best results," Tucker said. "Our clients appreciate the time and stress we save them. Laundry is no longer a hassle on their to-do list. Instead, they can focus on their priorities, knowing their clothing will be professionally cleaned and handled."
As a veteran and compassionate business owner, Tucker also enjoys giving back to the community that supports her.
"A portion of our proceeds goes towards initiatives that support local charities, foster community growth and promote eco-friendly practices," she said.
This summer, Tucker participated in Howard County's 10-week entrepreneur accelerator program, HoCo Higher, which includes a "shark tank" style pitch competition. She ended up winning first place among the 19 entrepreneurs participating in the program.
