(afro.com) — An Essex community food center run by AfriThrive is getting an $800,000 federal boost to expand refrigeration, improve food handling, and add a nutrition education classroom, helping more local families access fresh produce. The Essex facility, opened in 2023, will now operate as a permanent, higher-capacity hub for food security across Baltimore County's immigrant and African diaspora communities.
