Baltimore County Bill Refines Synthetic Pot Ban

Some Baltimore County officials want to take away Scooby Snax.

Councilwoman Vicki Almond, D-Reisterstown, has introduce a bill seeking to refine the existing ban on synthetic marijuana that is sometimes sold with product names such as Scooby Snax and Potpourri.   

Previously the county had banned synthetic versions of marijuana known as Spice and K-2

The bill would ban all forms of synthetic marijuana, which the legislation defines as a "psychoactive substance or compound created with man-made synthetic chemicals that when consumed or ingested, mimics the intoxicating effects of marijuana THC."  

The penalty for violating the existing ban would remain a misdemeanor with a $500 fine. But the new law would make anyone in violation subject to the state’s drug asset forfeiture statute.
