PurpleSwim 2012 is history and is still counting the proceeds!
Pancreatic cancer is often referred to as a silent killer. Seldom do patients have symptoms that provide an opportunity for early detection. And, unfortunately, the survival rate is less than 10%, something advocates hope to change!
Having lost his dad, Bud Beatty, to this disease - Tim Beatty founded and organized the Purple Swim! It takes place at Rocky Point beach each August and raises an average of $30,000... over the past four years, with a total of over $120,000 raised for research, the 2012 swim event has raised $35,414 and counting!
