Tree Falls Onto Building Near Middle River: Officials

A tree toppled onto an apartment building near Middle River Thursday night, officials reported.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — Multiple people were displaced when a tree fell into an apartment building Thursday night near Middle River, according to Baltimore County fire officials. At 8:15 p.m. on Thursday, crews were called to the scene.

A large tree had fallen into a building in the unit block of Beach Drive, officials reported.

The Baltimore County Fire Department summoned Baltimore County building engineers for assistance.

Despite initial reports from emergency officials that the roof collapsed, authorities later said that the roof was intact and there was minor structure damage; a large tree fell across the top of the building, according to Baltimore County Emergency Management.

The tree fell as the area was under a severe thunderstorm warning until 8:30 p.m. calling for hail and winds up to 60 mph.

Nobody was injured, and the apartment building was evacuated, according to authorities.

One child and three adults were displaced, Baltimore County emergency officials reported.
