Come join us with your children by the water to clean up our park! Your one small step can have a big impact on our environment. Come with water and a snack, gloves &/or grabbers, and a bag for trash!
We are accepting the challenge for Baltimore County's Clean Green 15. For 15 minutes, we will pick up litter around Cox Point Park in Essex on Thursday September 10, 2026 at 10:30AM. Together, we will see how much we pick up in a short time!
Right after our clean up, we will have a Rosh Hashana story time and tashlich and learn about the significance between this Jewish holiday as it relates to us Christians.
What is Rosh Hashanah? It is the Jewish New Year and Day of Trumpets, calls people to repentance and judgment as the shofar sounds and the Book of Life is opened—themes that point Christians to Christ’s return at the last trumpet and the assurance that those who trust in Him already have their names written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. The Tashlich ritual of casting sins into flowing water (from Micah 7:19) powerfully parallels Christian baptism, in which our old self is buried with Christ and our sins are washed away forever. Together these point to the heart of the gospel: through Jesus’ finished work, God has permanently cast our sins into the depths of the sea, giving us not yearly uncertainty but eternal forgiveness and new life.
