Essex Man Charged in Child Pornography Case

Police say the man, who reportedly works for Baltimore City police department, is also charged in sex offense involving 10-year-old girl.

A Baltimore County man who is also reportedly an employee of the Baltimore City police is being held without bail on child pornography charges.

Carl Ross, 28, is charged with possession and distribution of child pornography in addition to charges related to sexual abuse of a minor, according to the Baltimore County Police Department.

While he was initially being held at the Baltimore County Dentention Center on $275,000 bail, a judge ordered he be held without bail Wednesday, police reported.

According to the report, authorities monitoring online activity for child pornography found a person was distributing sexual images of children on July 1, which led them to Ross’s Essex home.

At the residence in the unit block of Pelczar Avenue, officers served a warrant July 28, seizing a computer and cell phone, police reported. According to the report, they found the computer contained child pornography and the investigation indicated Ross was responsible for it.

Officials said they also found in their investigation that Ross had committed a sexual offense against a 10-year-old girl.

Ross has worked for the Baltimore City police department doing data entry for 10 years, according to WBAL.

According to The Baltimore Sun, Ross was suspended without pay from his position with the police department.

Officials told the TV station there was no evidence that Ross used any city computers to share child pornography.
