Essex Man Charged in Fatal Hit-and-Run

A 29-year-old Essex man was taken into custody this week in connection with a deadly August crash, Baltimore County police report.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — An Essex man was indicted this week in the hit-and-run death of a pedestrian over the summer on North Point Boulevard, according to police.

Daniel Earl Lawrence, 29, of the 400 block of Riverside Drive, was indicted on charges of failing to stop at the scene of an accident involving death, failing to return and remain at the scene of an accident involving death and failing to immediately stop at the scene of an accident involving death.

Crash team investigators allege Lawrence hit a pedestrian on North Point Boulevard on Aug. 23.

Keith Curtis Tawney, 23, of the 2500 block of Lodge Forrest Drive in Sparrows Point, had been walking south on North Point Boulevard at 12:50 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 23, when a vehicle hit him and drove away, police said.

Tawney was pronounced deceased at the scene on North Point Boulevard near Cove Road, officials reported.

Court records show that after his indictment, Lawrence posted bail and was released.
