I-695 Crash Near Route 702 Snarls Traffic

ESSEX, MD — Traffic is snarled on the inner loop of the Baltimore beltway Friday morning due to a crash near Essex. After 10:45 a.m., the Maryland State Highway Administration reported all lanes were closed on the inner loop of Interstate 695 in the area of the exit for MD 702/Southeast Boulevard.

Emergency personnel had converged at the scene, where officials said two vehicles had crashed before 10:30 a.m.

By 11 a.m., the left lane was getting by on the inner loop of I-695 at the Southeast Boulevard exit. The crash had been moved to the right side of the road, but there was heavy traffic in the area.
