11-Year-Old Essex Boy Has Been Found, Police Say

The boy who did not returned home from Deep Creek Middle School on Wednesday night has been located, police reported.

ESSEX, MD — The 11-year-old boy who was reported missing in Essex has been found, according to the Baltimore County Police Department. Just before 7:40 a.m. on Thursday, authorities said that he had been located and was safe.

Previous Report: A boy never returned home from Deep Creek Middle School on Wednesday, and authorities are asking for help locating him. Friends said they last saw Cody Jones at basketball practice at the school in the 1000 block of South Marlyn Avenue around 8 p.m., according to officials.

"Where he went after that, no one knows," police said Thursday morning, "but he never returned home."

Jones, 11, of the 1000 block of Bayner Road in Essex, has now been reported missing.

When last seen, he was wearing a yellow vest with blue hood, brown Timberland boots, striped sweatshirt (light blue with dark blue horizontal stripes) and blue jeans.

He is described as approximately 4-feet-10 inches and 90 pounds with short black hair, brown eyes and a birthmark on the right side of his neck.
