Natty Boh Returns on Draft to a Tavern Near You!

For the first time in 15 years, Baltimore's favorite beer will be available on tap at local watering holes. At Howard's Pub & Deli, the first keg was tapped just after lunch Tuesday.

Now owned by Pabst Blue Ribbon, National Bohemian beer, a.k.a. Natty Boh, has only been available by bottle or can for the past 15 years. That will officially change Thursday night at Nacho Mama’s in Canton – and other area bars will follow on Friday and over the next two weeks.

However, several local taverns have already received their new Natty Boh kegs – and at least one has jumped the gun.

“Yes, it’s on tap right now,” Howard's Pub & Deli manager Beth Taby said to a reporter over the phone.  "We have a lot of customers who still drink Natty Boh and I’m sure it’s going to be popular.”

Taby said an 11-ounce glass of Natty Boh will go for $1 on tap at Howard's, located on Holabird Avenue.

At the Seahorse Inn on Wise Avenue, the new Natty Boh kegs haven’t yet come in, but their arrival is being anticipated.

“We’re getting it soon, but it’s not in yet,” said Vicki Wingates, a bartender at the Seahorse. “We sell it in cans, we still have customers who drink it, believe it or not. We may have more now that we are getting it on tap.”

Wingates said the Seahorse sells 16-ounce domestic drafts for $2.25 – the price she expects to sell Natty Boh.

Pabst, under new ownership since last year, apparently wants to push the beloved Baltimore brand that had all but ceded its share of the market to larger competitors. Pabst plans a hefty regional expansion, according to reporting this week in the Baltimore Sun.
