PHOTOS: Eastern Tech Brings It at Region Cheerleading Meet

Mavericks advance to state competition on Saturday at North Point.

Eastern Tech finished in second place in the 11-team North Regional Cheerleading Championship this week at C.M. Wright High School in Harford County.

The Mavericks finished with 119.6 point, 7.9 points behind region champion Harford Tech (127.5). Hereford finished in third place with 113.3 points, while Frederick took fourth (113). The top four teams advanced to Saturday's state competition at North Point in Waldorf.

Kenwood placed seventh in regionals with 109.4 points.

Eastern Tech coach Missy Wells, the Baltimore County Coach of the Year, credits senior cheerleader Jessica Locklear for leading her team this season.

"We have a very young program," Wells said. "We have come a long way in a short time. We are happy to go to states."
