Independent promotion put on latest show last week.
Maryland Championship Wrestling returned to Dundalk's Green Room Saturday night. Passionate local fans were treated to a special six-man tag team match between Fed Up and the Holy Rollers, and the main bout, featuring Pasadena's Ryan McBride against Washington D.C.'s Tyler Hilton, reigning MCW heavyweight champion.
The main event, officiated by a special guest refereeโthe recently retired wrestler known as "The Bruiser"โwas action packed. Hilton took control of the match early, attempting to put McBride, a Dundalk fan favorite, into several submission holds.
The local hero used the crowd's cheers to fight through Hilton's painful leg locks. Hilton then threatened to pin the Pasadena wrestler, but was only able to get a two-count.

โThese low-class Maryland fans just don't understand my upper-class Washington D.C. lifestyle,โ said the villainous Hilton after the match. "If they did, they wouldn't cheer for him, they would cheer for me. I mean, look at meโ who wouldn't love this face?โ
Again drawing strength from the partisan crowd, McBride took control of the match and was looking to pin Hilton when The Bruiser picked up the challenger and slammed him to the mat, attempting to collect a $5,000 bounty on McBride's head.

โI'm back, baby,โ said The Bruiser. โI had to get back surgery and I've been out for a year and a half. Somebody put a little bounty on his head and I decided to collect.โ
Wrestler Nui Tofiga rushed to his McBride's aide, and from there things quickly got out of hand as several wrestlers from earlier matches rushed to the ring,ย "good" wrestlers battling the evil-doers. Hilton and his manager tried to abscond with the belt, but were unsuccessful. Later, they got a ruling in their favor.
โThat's Ryan McBrideโhe's my main man!" said Tofiga. โI'm not just going to stay in the locker room and stand by while he gets his ass kicked. I'm gonna do something about it! I got Ryan's back!โ
Ultimately, the main bout was ruled a "no contest," meaning for time being, Hilton will get to keep the heavyweight title, according to Dennis Wipprecht, co-owner of Maryland Championship Wrestling.
โI should have seen it coming,โ said McBride of The Bruiser's treachery. โI knew there was a bounty on my head. I just want to thank my Dundalk fans who were cheering for me. I'm from right down the road in Pasadena, and wrestling in front of hometown fans gives you an adrenaline rush like no other. Without their support I don't think I could have kicked out of those pin attempts.โ
In the third match of the evening, a Josh Daniels' ย super kick broke Kindred's jaw. Not wanting to break character, Kindred continued to wrestle. But moments later, Daniels' vertical suplex knocked Kindred unconscious.
Fans, who thought it was part of the show, were quickly reminded that while the action is staged, the wrestlers do put their bodies on the line for their fans. An ambulance was called and Kindred was taken out of the ring on a stretcher with his neck immobilized.
Later it was announced that he sustained a broken jaw and a concussion.
โWe all saw the kick backstage,โ said MCW Commissioner Jimmy Cicero. "We could tell he was hurt, and then after the suplex the referee and the ringside doctor signaled to us that we needed an ambulance. These athletes go through intense training to be able to safely execute these moves, but sometimes things don't go as planned. It really gives everyone a reality check.โ
MCW's next event, Bodys Slam Autism, is a charity event scheduled for April 8 at the Green Room. Former WWE Superstar The Boogeyman is scheduled to wrestle.
McBride will get a chance for revenge, facing The Bruiser in the ring as a traditional opponent this time, Wipprecht said, adding that Hilton will again be on the card, but facing a new, as of yet unnamed challenger.
"In order to raise money and awareness of childhood autism, we are donating a portion of the proceeds to Autism Speaks,"ย said Cicero, whose two young sons are autistic.
