One in Custody After Essex Incident: Police
Some neighbors had to be evacuated during police response to incident in Essex, officials said.

ESSEX, MD — A community was on alert Sunday in Essex, where police converged at a residence and evacuated neighbors for about an hour.
An "unconfirmed incident" was reported inside a house in the unit block of Cardinal Road, police said at approximately 4:30 p.m., advising residents to shelter in place.
Due to the nature of the call, police said several nearby homes were then evacuated.

One person was taken into custody, police reported at 6:30 p.m., at which point officials had deemed the area safe.
Authorities said they were continuing to search the residence after 8:30 p.m. and could not release details until the search was complete.
