Fallston Library Opens as Cooling Center on Thursday

As the temperatures climb—with an anticipated high of 102 degrees on the heat index in Fallston around 3 p.m. on Thursday—officials have designated libraries around the county as cooling centers.

During normal business hours, there will be 11 places where citizens can go to cool off in the air conditioning.
Libraries are open from 1 to 8 p.m. on Thursdays unless noted, according to Harford County officials:

• Aberdeen – 21 Franklin Street
• Abingdon – 2510 Tollgate Road
• Bel Air – 100 E. Pennsylvania Avenue; open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursdays.
• Darlington – 1134 Main Street, Darlington; open noon to 5 p.m. on Thursdays.
• Edgewood – 629 Edgewood Road
• Fallston – 1461 Fallston Road
• Havre de Grace – 120 N. Union Avenue
• Jarrettsville – 3722 Norrisville Road
• Joppa – 655 Towne Center Drive
• Norrisville – 5310 Norrisville Road
• Whiteford – 2407 Whiteford Road

With temperatures above 100 degrees, people should be vigilant for signs of heat stroke, with symptoms including confusion, combativeness, strong rapid pulse, lack of sweating, dry flushed skin, faintness, staggering, possible delirium or coma, according to Harford County health officials. If you or someone else may be suffering from heat stroke, call 911.
